Humphrey Cards & an Announcement

Hi Everyone

Well i have finally got a little time to let you know on a really big deal for me that i haven't been able to share.  Although i could've from last friday i think, but the time has just flown and i really must do it now.  As i was deoming speccies at Dainty Supplies yesterday i thought i would share some of the cards i made and the news i had at the same time.

I have been asked to be a member of Spectrum Noir Design team blog which is part of the Spectrum Noir Website and I have been an accredited colourinst for a while.  I have a little blinkie on top right of my blog which has been there for a few months now.  Information will be shared soon as to how you can become one too, its sooooo exciting. The blog is a fabulous resource for anyone who has speccies to enable them to find inspiration, tips and techniques with lots of tutorials from all 14 DT members.  There are 7 from the UK and 7 from the Rest of the World (ROW).  I shall add a list all of their blogs below, they are such a talented bunch of ladies and I feel that some of  their coloruing is way beyond what i can produce.  Also if you have just ordered the Meadow Cottage Bears Pick of the Week Jacqui has just added the tutorial for colouring onto Kraft card that Sara talked about on the shows by Liz Murphy.

Pop over and take a look as it already has lots of great tutorials loaded up and then all 14 of us have our own day to post a regular blog on our specified day, every 2 weeks.  Mine is a Tuesday so my first scheduled post will be on the 5th June, the Queens Diamond Jubilee and my 30th Wedding Anniversary.

All of the papers i have used below are from the Humphrey's Corner CD, occasions and allsorts.  The stamps are all from the newest collection from the Humphrey range, A year with Humphrey.  Matted onto coredinations and of course coloured with spectrum noirs.  I've coloured the white pearls with speccies too. The middle card has a section of core embossed with one of sheenas new embossing folders and they are fab. I love this one and a lot of the lovely crafters bought all 6 yesterday.  I will have some more cards using those to share with you soon.

Glitter Geeks - Queens Jubilee

Hi Everyone

Time for a Glitter Geeks Blog Challenge and this week the theme is the Queens Diamond Jubilee.  I have thought and thought about this one and really struggled and i have ran out of time so i had to make a really quick card.  So i have chosen one of the new Hunky dory Meadow cottage bear kits that Sara launches later on today on create and craft at 12pm.  All i did was matt with core-dnations and gold mirri as there is already gold on the toppers.  I used a border behind the main picture from the kit as well as the little tea cup.  What could be more British than a nice cup of rosy lea.  Then i have searched the internet for some little flags to make a banner .  To finish i have just printed a sentiment in word and voila.  A quick and simple card that i really do like.

Sorry about the picture quality i think my camera lens is steamed up with the heat., and no time to take another photo.  I noticed this with my last card but i just thought it was my eyes but obviously it isn't.

And here is an interesting fact for you, or maybe not so interesting.  it is my 30th wedding anniversary on the 5th June which is the Queens Diamond Jubilee, so i get a day off.

Hope you like it.

Sneak Peek 2 Meadow Cottage Bears

Hi Everyone

A late post for me today as i wasn't early enough before i left for work this morning.  I have sooo much to do that i really must be very quick tonight.

This card is using one of the two new stamps that will be launched on Friday on Create and craft and these 2 stamps will be exclusive to create and craft viewers.  The 2 stamps are gorgeous and i have used distress inks on this one, vintage photo, dusky concord, spun sugar and peeled paint.  Its the first time i have used distress inks to paint with so i am quite proud of this finished topper.  I've matted into coredinations and backing papers from the new Meadow Cottage bears CD and used the sentiment from the image stamp.  The backing paper has been distress too with vintage photo. I've used my scalloped circles die and a spellbinder edgibility.

Don't forget to can take part in the fab blog hop/scavenger hunt so check out my post from yesterday.  The prize is worth over £58 and it looks like a lot of crafters companion fans have had fun taking part as I've been reading their comments.

Hope you like it.

Meadow Cottage Bears Blog Hop

Hi Everyone

Welcome to the Crafter's Companion Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt to celebrate the release of Meadow Cottage Bears, designed by Blackburn-born illustrator and figurative artist Christine Haworth!

Today is the day the DT are sharing sneak peeks of Crafters Companion  new launch Meadow Cottage Bears..........  It is launching on Friday on Create and Craft as a Pick of the Week and remember what happened last time with a Crafters Companion/Christine Haworth collaboration.  It was paintbox popets and it sold out within 24 hours!!!!!!!!

Its a blog hop with a bit of a difference today and there is such a fab prize to be had by one lucky person.  Check out the information below the photograph of my sneak peak.

I've used the CD rom to make my first card in peach and green to match the Bear image.  I've printed the image onto watercolour card and the effect is really really soft and lovely.  The backing papers are from the new CD rom as too is the lovely little sentiment.  I've matted using coredinations and add 3 little pearls and some peach seam binding.  The pearls where plain white and i have added colour with my spectrum noir pens to match them perfectly with the colour of the card.  No fancy die cuts today all i have done is use the wave cut on my clever cut 5 in 1 trimmer.  Isn't the image stunning, these bears are so cute and Christine's artwork is amazing.

If you have landed here from Gemma's blog then you are hopping in the right direction. If not then you need to pop over the Crafters Companion News blog to begin.

By taking part the amazing prize you have the chance of winning is:

the Meadow Cottage Bears CD, Reddy die-cut decoupage kit and two Hunkydory papercrafting collections!

All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning this great prize is visit each blog in turn and then head to the competitions page on the Crafter's Companion web site (you must be logged in to view this page). Each blog along the way will give you a clue, which will direct you to a product on the Crafter's Companion web site. Within this product you will find an image of a member of the Crafter's Companion Team, with a letter. Make a note of the letter and then head back to the blog to follow the hop to the next blog. Enter the phrase the letters make into the Competition page before 9am on Friday 25th May.

The winner will be drawn after 10am on Friday 25th May, and will be notified by email.

Your clue is: Spend a year with Humphrey with this card inserts kit from Hunkydory

When you've found your letter, hop on to Ali's blog.

Good luck!

hope you like my card and all of the amazing DT sneak peeks.

No 1 Son

Morning Everyone

I had such a fab last night, at the Nutcracker, and a gorgeous meal at Marco polos in Newcastle.  Great company with Anna and Claire, great food and a great show,  ooooo and two glasses or Kir Royal and 1/2 a glass of limoncello.

Tomorrow I will be able to share some new items from a brand new launch from crafters companion but up until then i have been looking for cards i have not shared with you yet and heres a lovely little image from the latest swalk range.  This stamp is called 'No 1 son' I love this card and i always call my son mark No 1 child and this would fit perfect for his birthday, i only have one son so it wouldn't upset anyone else.

Ive coloured with spectrum noir pens and used backing paper from the SWALK CD ROM 2.  The sentiment is from the image as too is the little rosette.  I'm not sure what the shape of this card is called  but they are very easy to make using my ulitmate pro and boxer. Ive matted with coredinations and also cut a star garland out of it too.  I've had this one for a while and not used it yet so i was pleased to get the chance.

Ok off to some more new exciting crafting.  I love spending Saturdays and Sundays crafting.....

Hope you like it.

Lovely Lilac

Morning Everyone

House work is done and 2 loads of washing finished and dried and i think i am going to have a bagel with cream cheese and a cup of tea after posting this card.  its only taken me 10 mins to put this card together as i painted the lilac at Graces craft shop last Saturday and have wanted to make it into a card ever since.  However i really wanted a few nights of chilling out so i have resisted any crafty urges every night last week and just come home, made the tea and then chilled before going to bed.  So i am raring to go for two full crafting days as i have lots to catch up on.  There is an exciting new launch coming up on the 25th may with Sara and i will start showing sneak peeks from Monday with a fab blog hop to take part in so look out for details.

ok so to my card, i love lilac and we used to have a lilac bush in our garden when i was little and i loved it.  We often had spray cut off and put in vases in the living room.  I have used the Lilac Paint Fusion stamp and paints white, dark blue, parma, green gold, brown  and antique white.  These are from sets 1, 3, Foliage and Neutrals.  Although i do think i will be trying some new colours to get different results.

I have painted onto one of Sheenas rectangle mount boards and used some cream and blue matt emulsion that was in the garage.  After painting i have edged the mount board in silver embossing powder and then used mirri card and white linen card.  I'm not a big fan of mirri card but on occasion it comes out to just edge some mattting and i think it matches perfectly.  I've then finished with a thinking of you sentiment, embossed in silver again and some lilac ribbon.  The colour is a perfect match to the paint but i am wishing i had left it off now for a really simple look.
Ok, off for my cup of tea and a bagel and then down to some serious crafting.  oooo and i am off to the ballet tonight at Newcastle.  I have never been before so i'm giving it a go as Claire Hamer had a spare ticket going.  So its off to Newcastle for tea and the ballet......  and probably a few glasses of wine.  What a fab day i have planned.  And its peaceful and quiet here is both Kevin and Mark are at work which is why i have got so much done so early.

Hope you like it.

Glitter Geeks Blog Challenge - Polka Dots

Hi Everyone

This weeks on Glitter Geeks blog challenge the theme is polka dots.  This one was easy as i use backing papers all the time with polka dots as i love them.  The image is 'Freindship' from the new SWALK Sweetest Stuff range and i have used backing papers from the SWALK CD ROM 2.  I have matched the polka dot with some cherry blossom backing paper from the same CD and i only found this paper about a month ago as i really must have missed it.  I think every time i put a Crafters Companion CD into my pc i find something i have missed before.  There are just so many nice papers and items to choose from.

Coloured with my spectrum noirs  as normal and i have matted with core'dinations card and then sewn around the outside of each matt.  The flower is from my stash that i bought from the nec years ago and the little pink centre is a sparklet from C&C but i'm not sure if they are still available.  They are gorgeous and just one on this card.

Hope you like it and don't forget closing is next Thursday at 6pm so get your entry in.

Party Girl

Hi Everyone

Today i have a Strawberry Kisses card to share with you from Papercraft essentials issue 80 last month.  I have used Party Girl for htis one and the SK CD ROM.  I love polka dots and will have another card to share with you tomorrow using a similar backing paper.  I just think it goes with most things.  I've coloured the image with Spectrum Noir Pens and also the little cherry embellishment that is a separate stamp included with the main image.  I have also used spray and sparkle iridescent to make the glass look like it is sparkly by using masking tape.  The senitment is also from the stamp set, the border is using a spellbinder die and the ribbon was free from a magazine that i have been hoarding in my cupboard.

Hope you like it.

March Wedding

Hi everyone

I've a card to share with you today that i made a while ago for a previous work colleague that got in touch with me via Facebook after seeing my blog.  She wanted a wedding card for her freinds and she really liked the previous LOTV card i had made.  As the wedding has now passed i can share it with you.

I've coloured the image with spectrum noir pens and used magnolia paper.  Then just a few flowers and embellishments.  The tags are made by printing on centura pearl card and then heat embossing immediately before the ink dries as it stays wet a little while so the powder sticks to it.  Therefore you can personalise and emboss all your sentiments and they look special rather than just printed.  The inside has been made to match and finishes it off perfectly.

Hope you like it.

One of a Kind.............

Morning Everyone,

Yesterday i had a fabulous day at the lovely Graces craft shop Middlesbrough, however my mind is so full of other stuff at the minute i forgot to post on facebook.  I had a fab day paint fusioning, working on the ultimate and boards and also demoing the e-craft. The group of crafters grace has are fabulous and it is the second time i have been and her shop is just fab.  My next demo is in two weeks at dainty supplies, Washington so i have already posted this so i don't forget.  I'm not sure what i will be covering as yet but i will soon and as soon as i do i will let you all know.

My Gracie is here this weekend too and she saw me with my paints so has asked to do so Paint fusion with me today so i may have her work of art to post later today.  Today i have another SWALK card to share and this is One of a kind.  I love this image and when i made this card i mentioned to Kevin that for his 50th birthday i am going to make him one of these.  he wasn't very impressed but i feel we are both not looking forward to approaching the big 50.  The reason being is that i think neither of us feel 50 and the years are flying by.  Never mind i suppose most people feel like this.  Grace even said you are really old at 50 aren't you Nana?  Although I still have two years to go yet.

I've coloured the Bert with Spectrum Noirs, as he is affectionately called by Lovely Ali, and i decided to go for brighter colours with a dark contrast so have used turquoise and black.  I wasn't sure at first as i don't normally like really bright colours, but Leann keeps saying she is predicting bright colours for cards.........
I used backing papers from the SWALK CD ROM 2 and cut some photo corners on my e-craft, using  the Laina Lamb  office essentials sd card.

To decorate the inside i have matched the design on the from and left a place to write a message and then used the sentiment that goes with the stamp.  Its quite unfussed and plain but i think this is better for a mans card which i always struggle with but i love this one.  It was also really quick to make which i love too as i always seem to be running out of time.

Hope you like it.

Glitter Geeks Blog Challenege - Wings and Things

Morning everyone

How can it be Friday again.......  I think i have lost a week...........

This week the theme is Wings and Things so i chose one of the new SWALK images from the Sweet stuff range that Leann launched as the pick of the day on Tuesday of this week.  What fab shows they were and i only got back yesterday am so i am shattered, although not as shattered as Leann will be as she stayed another day to help Louisa with her shows.

So this image is a different take on the little girl that i used to make my little tea light boxes sooooooo how could i not make another one using this design.  She is called Rainbow Kisses but she has a little butterfly in her hand and i have added a butterfly die cut that i bough at the NEC and its the first time i have used it.

I have used my Spectrum Noir  pens to colour the image and also backing papers from the SWALK CD ROM 2.  I've used the colouriser to tone down the pink a little and make it softer.  The circle and lace circle are spellbinders and the leaves are made using a Marianne Die.  Then to finish i have added some flowers from Wild orchid crafts.  Lots of photos i know but i wanted to show you the finished item from inside and the matching box too.  The tag has been stamped with a paintbox poppets sentiment, they are just soooo versatile i use them all the time.

Hope you like it.

Wine of Friendship

Morning Everyone

Hopefully you will all have got your lovely SWALK Pick of the Day but there is still time if you haven't.  They are really all gorgeous images and have many many uses for all sorts of occasions.  This one is for a special friend i think and its just so pretty.

Coloured with my Spectrum Noirs and using backing papers from SWALK CD ROM 2 i have made a shadow box card.  I have also used some prima flowers that go perfectly and are stunning, this ones are called Miss Godiva, i have had them for a while and have been waiting for just the right card to use them on.

Above is a side view so you can see the effect you get with this type of card.

Hope you like it.

Sunshine

Morning everyone

A very quick post this morning as i am running late and need to be out the door as quickly as possible.  I've not packed yet and i'm still in my PJ's.  Today's card is my final sneak peek before the launch shows tonight and I  hope you will be watching.  I've coloured with my Spectrum Noirs and again used backing papers from SWALK CD ROM 2.  I've added a sky background using tumbled glass distress ink and then quite simply decorated it as the image is quite detailed.  I really loved colouring this in as its a whole picture and tells a story.

I love this finished card.

Hope you like it.

Belle of the Ball

Hi Everyone

Well i had a really really productive day yesterday although this meant i was cooped up in my little craft room all day by myself but i thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I managed to make 6 cards, well one is a tealight card and box to match, which is amazing going for me as normally it takes me ages to just make one.  On Saturday i only made one so it just goes to show it just depends what mood i am in.

However on Saturday i did get a bit sidetracked as i was planning all of my trips away in the next few months.  It looks like Kevin and I will not be having a proper holiday away this year as i think i have over done it.  Here's what i have planned and i am soooo excited this is why i need to list them all......

June 4 & 5th London, Kevin and me for our 30th Wedding anniversary,  oooo and i have just checked its Pearl, i wonder what he will get me?????
June 9 &10th Margaret Brown and me at a Jane Nestorenko Workshop, staying in Coventry
July 17 & 18th, Gracie her mam and me at a Madonna concert in Hyde park London
July 19 & 20th Madonna Concert Birmingham, me and i don't know who as yet as this was a spur of the moment thing...................
August 3, 4 & 5th Me and Kevin at the Olympics, i was lucky enough to get tickets for the athletics 100 metre heats, so i am really looking forward to this.

Ok enough of that, so on to one of  my cards from yesterday and only 1 more sleep to the SWALK Pick of the Day show tomorrow night at 9pm and that's another trip away for me to Peterborough.  (I love my new job).  I have used the Belle of the Ball stamp and made an easel sort of stepper card, not sure really what it is called but i love it.  I have used my Spectrum Noirs to colour and backing papers from the SWALK CD ROM 2  I really wanted a background to go with her so i found a castle background digi which i thought would fit perfect. The only extra things i have added is my favourite Marianne flower die and a new vine flourish die i bought at the NEC i nearly forgot about this one, its the first time i have used it.

How fab would this be for a little girls birthday card, i know Grace will just love it so it may be that i make one for her 9th Birthday in November.

Don't forget to enter the competition, details on the crafters companion news blog, as you have a chance to win all of the new stamps and a cd resource for colouring all SWALK images with your spectrum noir pens. Closing date is 9am tomorrow which is the 8th May.  Just look at all the new cute stamps below, i love all of them.....

Ok I'm off to craft again while i still have the motivation.

Hope you like it.

Saying Bye

Hi Everyone

Only 2 more sleeps to go to the new SWALK launch on Ideal World.   I am sooooo excited i love swalk, i just love their sweet little faces they are soooo cute.  This one today is Saying Bye, so it could be for someone who is moving home or leaving work, etc.............  I have coloured with Spectrum Noirs and used backing papers from SWALK CD ROM 2 and i have tried something a bit different.  I've stamped using memento in London Fog rather than Black to create a really soft tone.

My first image went in the bin as i messed up the eyes after i had coloured the whole image in, i went too dark so on the second attempt i kept it very pale with BT2.  The brads and flowers are from my stash and the sentiment comes with the image.

Don't forget you have a  chance to win the 12 new stamps and the Resource CD which are worth over £60.................

All you have to do is tell us what the S.W.A.L.K. name stands for and the link to the question is:
  https://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/members/competitions.html

You have to be logged on to be able to see the question and add your answer so if you are not already a member then please register as the winner could be you. The closing date is 8th may at 9am so don't miss out!!!!

A little note....... to say...........

I have a new job.................

Morning everyone

I am soooo excited to let you in on my news that i have a new job with Crafters Companion and how appropriate was this card that i am posting today.  It wasn't planned at all but now as Sara has shared the news with platinum members of CC i though i better make an announcement.

My official job title is Trade Associate and i am mainly working with Claire in the trade department.  However another part of my role is co-ordinating the Design Team work with Leann and Ideal World TV preparation.  And i have to say i am loving all of it, how lucky am i to have been given this opportunity..........  And i know you already know this but every single one of the CC team are such lovely lovely people as too are the Design Team Members.

My card today is 'A little note' from the SWALK range and all of the DT have been working on the new launch of 12 stamps using spectrum noirs but we also decided to use some of the previous well loved swalk images and give them a bit of a make over with speccies.  I have used backing papers from the SWALK CD ROM 2 and have used the colouriser to co-ordinate with the dark reds of the coloured image.  I'll not share the exact colours with you as they are on the CD Resource that Leann is launching as part of the Pick of the Day on Ideal World at 9pm on Tuesday night.

There has been so much work involved in preparing for the shows and i think i am starting to get the hang of it, just mind you. Leann and I are travelling down to the TV on Tuesday afternoon and i will be behind the scenes in the studio helping her set up.  How exciting, I just love it................ I must give myself a pinch to see if i am still asleep and dreaming.........  Nope I'm not dreaming, i think i might hyperventilate........... or SQUEEAAAALLLLLLL like Ali Watson

I have also used a darice music embossing folder as part of the background as it matches perfectly with the theme and the little notes on the main image are part of the little extra stamps that come with the main image. I cannot find the embossing folder on the CC website though so i am not sure if it is out of stock currently.

Don't forget to watch the shows on Tuesday and Wednesday and also have a go at entering the competition on the Crafters Companion news blog to win the stamps and CD.  Sara has just posted a couple of her demo cards for the TV too so you can get a sneak peek of them here.  She is sooo proud that Leann asked her to take part in the preparation for the shows as its showing her speccie colouring is improving, not that it wasn't any good before boss................

You can also pop over to Leanns blog if you would like another chance to win the full set of new stamps and cd as she has managed to obtain them for a give-away.

If you are interested in looking at some more of the gorgeous SWALK samples the DT have made i have listed all of their blog details below as they have made some stunning cards.

Here Comes Summer

Hi Everyone

Here comes summer is the new challenge blog theme for May at the Crafters Companion  Monthly blog and do we really think summer is on the way?  It should be but all of this rain is really depressing.  Well i thought of lots of summer cards i could do but one of the main things i look forward to in the summer is Wimbledon and pimms and of course strawberries and cream.  I am pleased to say i have been lucky enough to enjoy Wimbledon 3 times now and i am still waiting to see if i have been lucky enough to win tickets in the lottery again this year.  There's still a bit of time left so I've got my fingers crossed.

Here's my card and it is from the Strawberry Kisses range of stamps and this one is YUM.  I have used the SK CD ROM and coredinations backing paper to complete it.  I've also used a couple of my epiphany button tool and buttons to co-ordinate perfectly.  As always it is coloured with my spectrum noir pens.  oooo and if you love your pens and like to follow step by step tutorials and look for inspiration for which colours to use for images there is something exciting coming up soon on C&C.........  Watch this space.........

mmmmm strawberries and cream and Pimms, i can'rt wait.........  I've added a photo of the mens final back in 2008 when i was lucky enough to get centre court tickets for that final and we were right near the front.  mmmmm nadal............  well i can dream can't i?????????

Hope you like it.

Oh and pop over to the challenege and take part, i am looking forward to what images and memories  of summer you can conjour up.........
